SAY vs. TELL

Melhor do que tentar aprender regras difíceis e não confiáveis para o uso destes dois verbos, seria melhor memorizar as seguintes frases:

 

** Os verbos SAY e TELL são verbos irregulares. Suas conjugações seguem abaixo:

To say; said (simple past); said (past participle)

To tell; told (simple past); told (past participle)

 

Exemplos:

 

SAY --  He SAID nothing.

           He SAID a few words TO me.

           He SAID TO me, '' Pass me the book''.

TELL -- He TOLD the truth TO the judge.

           He TOLD HIM the truth.

           He TOLD THE JUDGE the truth.

           He TOLD ME about the battle.
